| 作品解説(日本語) | 東京美術学校（現・東京藝術大学）西洋画科卒業後に教師をしながら制作をしていた香月は、３１歳の時に応召を受け、終戦の１９４５年にシベリヤ抑留となり４７年に帰国の途につきます。この翌年から亡くなるまで断続的に「シベリア・シリーズ」と言われる抑留体験を中心とした作品群を手掛けました。極限の寒さと闇を伝える黒には、木炭が混ぜられ、その漆黒の大地の上に鮮やかな黄色い太陽が昇っています。色彩には、過酷な環境で手にした煤や消し炭やその中でも美しくあった太陽の記憶が託されています。 |
| Writing text | Kazuki Yasuo was making art while working as a teacher following his graduation from the Western painting department of the Tokyo Fine Arts School (the current Tokyo University of the Arts) when, at the age of 31, he was called up to fight in the Second World War. When the war ended in 1945, he was detained in Siberia and began his return home in 1947. From the following year until his death, he worked on and off on creating a number of works focused on his experiences as a postwar prisoner, collectively called the “Siberian series.” The black paint, which conveys the extreme coldness and darkness, has charcoal mixed into it. Above that dark, black ground, a bright yellow sun is rising. The colors convey the memories of the soot and burned-out charcoal of that harsh environment, and of the sun that was still beautiful despite the surroundings. |
