Biography

Fujimori Shizuo was a leading figure in the creative print movement, actively producing works through the first half of the Showa period. The works presented here demonstrate that woodblock printing was the medium best suited to his artistic sensibility. His powerful forms, created with the sharp, incisive strokes of a carving knife, are distinctly characteristic of Fujimori. Like Onchi, he found here the starting point of his career as a woodblock print artist.
