This handled jug belongs to a family of pottery called “white slip ware,” for which patterns are painted in black on a base coated with white slip. This piece has a rounded body typical of ancient Cypriot pottery, decorated with patterns of concentric circles, diamonds, and other geometric shapes. This type of jug has been unearthed from tombs in east Cyprus, and is considered to have been used for burial rituals.
