Description of works【Iranian dish mimicking Chinese Kraak dishes】
This Iranian dish was modeled after an Kraak (underglaze blue porcelain with ornaments arranged into panels, each containing its own motif made by the Jingdezhen Kilns in China). The white base of this dish was first painted with the design using cobalt blue pigment, then fired after a transparent glaze was applied. It resembles Chinese underglaze cobalt blue porcelain, but because it was fired at a low temperature, the dish is classified as soft-paste porcelain. Each mado-e (“picture window”) shaped like a cotton rose petal has Chinese-style designs of objects or landscapes.
