Description of works【Turquoise blue】
In Iran in the 12th and 13th centuries CE, bright blue pottery achieved with an alkaline glaze containing copper became popular. This piece, considered to be modeled after a metallic vessel, was heavily influenced by such pottery. Attached to the surface are oval relief decorations made in molds. When this jug was first made, the surface must have had a glassy glow, but after many years, patination and cracking have occurred. However, these features of weathering also contribute to making this jug an attractive piece.
