Description of works【Jar in the form of a glowing full moon】
From around the 17th century CE during the Joseon period, one jar-making technique became popular, which was to make the upper and lower sections separately on a potter’s wheel and join them together. A trace of the joint section can be found on this dusky white porcelain. Its slightly distorted shape is another feature of this piece. In Korea, these rounded milky-white jars are called “talhunari” (moon jars) and are appreciated as decorative, ornamental ceramics.
