| Description of works | 【Dragon? Or prawn?】 Tessha refers to white porcelain ware painted with a black glaze containing iron oxide. Formed on a potter’s wheel into a round shape, its surface is finished by a scraping technique. A meandering dragon is painted around the body, with its whiskers and scales boldly drawn but without limbs or a horn, making this a very simplified rendition of a dragon. Or could it be a prawn? The mysterious animal is also accompanied by the shape of another unknown creature. |
