| Title | Meiping Vase, iron brown under white glaze |
| Date | Goryeo dynasty, 12th century |
| Name of prefectures & cities | Korea |
| Description of works | 【Rare white porcelain in the meiping style】 The color of the glaze on this vase, which is in the typical form of a plum vase (Chinese: meiping), has a subtle blue tint resembling ash glaze. When meiping became popular during the Goryeo period, they were mostly celadon, which makes this vase a true rarity. Although the design of grasses on its shoulder in tetsu-e (a paint technique that uses iron oxide-based pigment) is applied rather sketchily, it certainly tightens the overall impression of the vase. |
