Description of works【Melon-shaped, s-curved vase】
This vase is in the form of a meiping (plum vase) of China, creating an s-curve from its shoulder to the bottom — a shape unique to Korean Goryeo pottery. Its body is segmented into five parts by vertical lines, giving it a shape resembling a melon. It is a high-fired ceramic piece coated with natural glaze, which occurs when the wood ash inside the kiln accumulates on the surface and melts, resulting in shiny black sections.
