Description of works【Natural beauty achieved by brush strokes】
This tea bowl features a mouth that slightly curves outward and a plump body. Before it was fired, white slip was applied coarsely using a brush on the upper section and inside. Use of a brush enables a rendition of natural dry strokes and different shades of white slip, creating an intriguing contrast with the base’s gray color. This type of Goryeo tea bowl was cherished by the Japanese people as “hakeme” (brush marked pottery).
