Description of works【A mascot lion sits on the pitcher’s lid】
This is a set of a pitcher with a beautifully curved spout and a matching shoban (basin). The lid has a knob in the shape of a lion with a comical face, and the body features arabesque patterns created by very shallow carvings. It is accompanied by a shoban in the shape of a lotus flower, which was presumably filled with warm water to help maintain the temperature of the wine in the pitcher.
