| Description of works | 【What is being grilled?】 This is a miniature grill for skewered food, with a deep firebox in which fuel was placed. Cicadas are being grilled, which were creatures that presumably symbolized rebirth in ancient China because they emerged from the ground as if to live another life. The cicada motif is often seen in aristocrats’ funerary objects. |
