| Description of works | 【Nostalgic threshing workshop】 Many funerary objects with an architectural theme, like this one, reproduced a variety of scenes that took place in sakubo (workshops). This piece is a threshing workshop with a foot-operated kara-usu (Chinese mortar) and a cylindrical mill. Here we can see a man operating the mortar with his feet to pound the grain, chickens pecking at the spilled grain, and a dog lying on the ground watching — a truly idyllic scene. |
