| Description of works | 【Wine jar: symbol of authority】 This handled, three-legged jar with a beak-like spout is called ki (Chinese: gui), and is made of white clay. Ki is unique to the Dawenkou culture of the lower Yellow River region in China, and it was always found in the tombs of powerful authorities. Presumably the custom of an authority pouring wine into the cups of lower-ranking people, unique to China, was already in place. |
