| Description of works | 【Jar with charming “earrings”】 This plump, acorn-shaped jar has four decorative handles and is accentuated by a raised clay string around its center. It is a beautiful piece in a deep green shade obtained by thickly covering the entire body in a lead-based glaze. This type of pot is a rarity from the Sui dynasty (6th C. CE–7th C. CE), and is a valuable resource for studying the lead-based glazing technique said to have been carried over from the Beiqi and Beizhou dynasties (6th C. CE) into the Sui dynasty. |
