| Name of prefectures & cities | China |
| Description of works | 【Earthenware that clearly distinguishes the dead from the living】 Kasaito is gray earthenware painted with patterns using various types of pigments to mimic the bronzeware used for worship rituals. Because many kasaito were unearthed from the tombs of Han dynasty (3rd C. BCE – 1st C. CE) aristocrats, they are considered funerary objects. This is a large, hefty piece with a cloud-mist design, drawn boldly with red, white, green, purple, and other colored pigments. Although some of the pigment has flaked off, it is still a superb piece, retaining its original colors. |
