| Description of works | 【Hear the fluttering of the wings】 This majestic figurine is a bald eagle, flying with its wings spread. Being the national bird of the U.S.A., the bald eagle has been a popular subject for ceramic figurines, and that country — the biggest importer of such figurines — ordered them from the ceramics manufacturers in Seto. Of all the makers, Daito-Sanshin Co., Ltd. received the highest reviews from general consumers and the ceramics sector in Seto. This company was founded in 1935 initially as Sanshinsha, and its ceramic figurine gift manufacturing department continued to operate until 1996. While many figurine manufacturers in Seto were subcontractors working for overseas clients, Daito-Sanshin established its own brand in the 1970s focusing on luxurious and representational bird-themed figurines that were also highly rated in the European markets. |
