Description of works【Aibika — the favorite flower of the Goryeo dynasty】
This bowl with rokurinka (six-petal flower-shaped rim) bears a design of aibika flowers and their okra-shaped buds. The design is first engraved in detail on a mold onto which the clay is pressed to transfer the design, and then beautifully finished with additional carving. The Goryeo people classified the glaze with its translucent, jade-like blue-green color as of the highest rank, calling it “hishoku” (jade color).
