Description of works【Ki-zeto: yellow Seto ware】
Ki-zeto is yellow pottery made in the 16th and early 17th centuries at the Mino kilns in present-day Gifu Prefecture. This vase was made in the latter half of the Edo period, when a movement to reproduce the works of the Momoyama period (1586–1603 CE) gained momentum.
The body is covered with finely crazed glassy yellow glaze. Ruiza (round clay appliqué) are attached around the center of the body — a popular decoration used by potters across Japan for vases, pitchers, mukozuke (small dish), and many other works for the tea ceremony.
