| 作品解説 | 私はこの場所で、北極星との関係を結ぶ。山口県宇部市ときわ公園は、北緯33度56分に位置している。私の彫刻には水平面に対して仰角33度56分の穴が穿たれており、地軸にあわせて正しく設置することによって北極星の光が穴に差し込むのである。人々はこの彫刻の中央にある穴を覗くことで、遥か遠い433年の宇宙から発せられた光を見ることができるのだ。彫刻に穿たれた穴はいつでも北極星の光を捉えているので、日中でもいつでも北極星の存在を感じることができる。ときわ公園に集う人々が、この彫刻によって北極星の光と対話し、宇宙への思いを巡らせていただければ幸いである。 I form a relationship with Polaris. Tokiwa park in Uber city, Yamaguchi prefecture locates at 33°56'N. There is a hole in my sculpture at 33°56' angle, so when it is rightly installed according to the axis the light from Polaris will come into the hole. When people look into this hole which is right in the middle of the sculpture, they can see the light departed 433 light years away in the outer space. The hole always captures the Polaris light, so we can feel the existence of Polaris all the time, even during the day. I hope that people gather in Tokiwa park will have a conversation with the light of Polaris and turn their thoughts to the space. |
