| 作品解説 | 緑の中に息づく宇部の街。 宇部市を俯瞰してみた際にその緑と市街地のせめぎあう、しかし時には互いへのやさしさを含んだ有機的な形、に彫刻家として惹かれました。 宇部市を上空から撮影した写真を元に街と緑の境をなぞり、その取り出した形を鉄板で精密に再現しました。（約1/4000スケール）さらに蝶番を取り付けて折り畳むことで層状にヴォリュームを加えていきました。 いくつもの層が何か大切なものを包み込む形、その内部空間においては、いくつもの層を通った光と影が日々、様々な表情をみせてくれることを期待しています。 境をなぞりながら未だ見ぬ宇部市を歩き、制作を通してその形と向き合うことで、自分なりの方法で宇部市を考えることができたと感じています。 Ube is a city alive amongst the greenery. A bird's-eye-view of Ube shows greenery battling urbanity, but sometimes I'm attracted as a sculptor to organic shapes that include modest kindnesses between the two opponents. Using photographs taken from the sky above Ube, I traced and cut out the urban and green areas and accurately recreated the shape they made with metal plates. (Approx. 1/4000 scale) Then, I added volume to the layers by mounting door hinges and folding them. Multiple layers wrap around something important and the space in between creates various expressions depending on the time of day thanks to the light and shadows passing through those layers.I walk through unseen parts of Ube along its border and, by striving to sculpt this piece. I feel as though I was able to see Ube in my own special way. |
