| 作品解説 | タイトルの1925とは、宇部市に渡辺祐策らから常盤湖周辺の土地が寄贈され、現在のときわ公園の基礎ができた年のことです。市民に愛され続けて早88年が経ちました。更に、1961年から始まった野外駆刻展は今回で27回目、半世紀に渡って多くの市民と彫刻作品とを結びつける場所ともなりました。今回、市民と連携して制作を行いますが、ときわ湖を作品題材に選んだ理由は制作を通して彫刻との新たな接点創出だけに留まらず公園の果たしてきた役割や意味を再確認する機会を持ちたかったからです。そのことが今後、彫刻のある街づくりに少しでも生かせればと考えます。宇部だからできること・・・2013〜新たなスタートです。 The title 1925 signifies the year when Sukesaku Watanabe and others donated the land around Tokiwa Lake to Ube City, and the foundation for Tokiwa Lake, as it exists today, was made. Since then, for 88 years, citizens have loved the park. In addition, the outdoor sculpture exhibition has been held 27 times since it was started in 1961, and it has become a place many citizens associate with sculpture. This piece is a collaboration with citizens. I chose Tokiwa Park as the subject of my work because I wanted to take the opportunity to reaffirm the role and value of the park, not just create a new connection with sculpture. I hope that it will contribute to future urban development using sculptures. Only Ube can accomplish it...2013~ A new start. |
