| 作品解説 | 「大地の響・身体の座・VI」は、野外を想定した音響環境をテーマとした彫刻である。彫刻が単に視覚的な対象としてのみではなく、音響環境との深いかかわりのなかでの成立を探る試みのシリーズの一つである。 彫刻は花崗岩を刳り貫き、一方は大地に向かって貫通させ、他方は彫刻の下部に空洞を設け、環境音は内壁に反射することによって基調音が生じるようになっている。特別な仕掛けによって音を発する物理的な環境装置としてではなく、鑑賞者が彫刻に近づいたり、身体を横たえて触れることによって、作品が設置されている自然の環境の基調音をその場所の“気配”として感ずることのできるような環境膨刻の試みである。 "The Sound of the Earth: The physical seat VI" is a sculpture based on the theme of the outdoor acoustic environment. The sculpture is part of a series that is not just visual, but aims to produce pieces that have a deep relationship with the acoustic environment. The sculpture consists of holes through granite, and on one side the hole penetrates through to the ground, on the other side there is a cave, and through environmental sounds being reflected on the inner wall, notes are produced. This is not a physical environmental installation which produces sounds through a special process, but rather an attempt to make an environmental sculpture, and through the viewer approaching the sculpture, lying down, or touching the sculpture, sounds in the natural environment where the work has been placed become an expression of the surrounding's atmosphere. |
