| 作品解説 | “Poom”とは、寛容をもって他者を認め、受け入れるという意味を表す韓国語です。 日本語では、“ふところ、中国語では“懐”という言葉がありますが、少し微妙な差があるようです。 まして英語では、同じ意味の言葉は見つかりませんでした。 近年、私はこのタイトルでいくつかのシリーズ作品を発表しています。 私にとって“Poom”は、二つかそれ以上の自我(フロイトの自我）との関係によって形作られる空間を意味します。 自我が互いに作用し結びつくことで、成長し、豊かになるための場が生まれます。 “Poom”は、調和や理解を超えた、発展のための空間でもあるのです。 そしてそれは私に、絶えず変化する宇宙空間の壮大さや壮麗さを想起させます。 In Korean, "Poom" is a word used in everyday conversation with emotional connotations which means embracing and accepting others with tolerance. The Japanese equivalent is "Futokoro" and the Chinese equivalent is "Huai", with slightly different variations in meaning. Moreover, there is no real equivalent in English. Recently, I have exhibited several series of artworks under this title. To me, "Poom" is a space that is formed by the relationship between two or more egos (I refer here to the Freudian ego.) The egos affect and become enclose in each other, which then becomes the platform for their growth and prosperity. Therefore, "Poom" is beyond simple harmony and understanding; it is a space meant for progress. And there, I see a likeness to the grandeur and fluidity of outer space, which is at once powerful and graceful. |
