| 作品解説 | テラコッタ、ブロンズ、陶器と木内はさまざまな仕事を残した。この「手をつく女」は、寡作と思われていた作家が、次第に創作の自由さに目覚めて奔放に意欲的に制作をしはじめる頃の、油の乗り切った作品の一つである。縄文の土偶のような、あるいは紀元前ギリシャのアルカイックな人像たちのような自由さの秘密を木内はこの頃会得したはずである。この年つくった「寄りかかった像」やこの「手をつく女」など一連の作品で毎日芸術賞を受賞している。「手をつく女」には同じ題名の片手だけをついているもう一体（1957年）もあり、さまざまなポーズや姿態をとるブロンズ像が数多くつくられている。 Kinouchi left various works with various materials, like terracotta, bronze, ceramic, etc. “Woman with Hands on Ground” was produced when the artist, initially considered non-prolific, discovered limitless freedom in creative works and energetically engaged in production with matching skills. Kinouchi must have learned the secret of freedom found in clay figurines from Jomon period or archaic statues from the Ancient Greece. The series of works, including this “Woman with Hands on Ground” and “Leaning Figure”, won Mainichi Art Award. The artist created another bronze statue with the same title (1957), in which the woman places only one hand on the ground, along with many other bronze figures with various postures. |
