| 作品解説 | 石そのものがもっている素材の魅力を十二分に引き出そうとする作者の意図は、第2回現代日本彫刻展のこの作品においていっそう顕著になっていった。直方体のひとかたまりの大石を、四方から内へ向けてざっくり切り落としていくと、大石の内部にさまざまな空隙が生じる。内部の切断面が同時に外部であるような、内と外が等しい価値、等しい肌合いを保ちながら、なおかつ元の原形を失わない力強い空間となっている。 The intention of the sculptor to bring out the charms inherent in stone as a sculpture material is even more visible in this piece, which was an entry for the 2nd Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition. An enormous, single rectangular monolith, roughly cut towards its core from four sides, features voids with various shapes and sizes. The cut surfaces of the internal voids look like external surfaces, as if equalizing and balancing the values and textures of interior and exterior, while the work’s spatial structure successfully keeps intact the force of the original monolith. |
