| 作品解説 | 宇部市に所在する7点の土谷作品は、併せて眺めると戦後の現代日本の彫刻史の足跡をそのまま象徴しているようだ。この作品は上下二段に石組を配し、石のもつ柔らかな味や素材の魅力をうまく伝えている。寄り添い合う上段の3基の石の表情はそれぞれが個性的でありながら、なおかつ集合することによって大きな土俗的詩情のようなものへと高まりをみせている。 When viewed together, the seven works by Tsuchitani held by Ube City look as if they epitomize the footsteps of Japanese postwar sculpture history. The work features combinations of stones in two layers to skillfully present the gentle atmosphere and charms of the stones as a material. While the three stones huddling together on the upper layer individually present unique faces, they create a momentum as a whole, as if in a poetic praise of folk culture. |
