Comment | The foot for this cup was made by attaching a plate of glass to the hemispherical body. It feels heavier than it looks due to the use of copper red glass containing a rather large amount of lead. Sophisticated skills and knowhow were necessary to reduce the oxidized' copper in the glass. Obtaining the red coloring of carnelian by artificial means would have required considerable effort. |
