Comment | A core-formed bottle with a some what slender neck. Small handles with holes for cords have been applied at the shoulders. spirals of extremely fine white glass have been trailed around the whole surface at finely spaced intervals, and a chevron pattern has been created by combing with a needle. Considerable weathering on the glass; the base is broken. According to the glass artist Matsushima Iwao, who uses the core glass technique in his work, the vertical crack in the neck has not been caused by weathering but possibly by distortion during the production process. the artifact is thought to be a product of the Neo-Elamites and has been attributed to Azerbaijan (northeast Iran). |
