Comment | It is a clay figurine found in the ancient Syrian city in the later third millennium BC. The breasts and buttocks are emphasized and indicate that it is a woman. A navel and the female genital tract are exhibited so that we can know this example shows naked woman. Big eyes and unique, winding hair are characteristic, but the mouth is not expressed. The female clay figurine continued to be made since Neolithic period. Generally, it is interpreted as a mother goddess, and it is thought to have been used as an amulet and in religious services. |
