| Description | Wooden shield used by the Hayato. The Hayato people lived in the southern regions of Kyushu. The Hayato in the Palace were in charge of guarding the gates. This shield is one of the fifteen shields that were recycled to build the walls of a well inside the Nara Palace. It was common to recycle items in 8th-century Japan. |

| 설명 | 우물 틀로 재활용된 하야토(隼人)의 방패 15개 중 하나이다. 나라 시대에는 한번 사용한 물품을 전용하는 일이 빈번했다. 하야토란 미나미큐슈(南九州) 지역의 사람을 말하는데, 그들은 궁 문의 경비를 담당했다. 의식을 거행할 때는 이 방패와 창을 들고 문 앞에 정렬하여 독특한 발성법으로 사악한 기운을 물리쳤다고 한다. |
