DescriptionThis ewer has a typical form appeared during the Ming dynasty - a pear-shaped body, long and slender spout, cloud-shaped strut and a curving handle. Such ewers were also made out of metal and lacquer. The two small birds perching on a flowering branch depicted in graceful brushwork demonstrates the outstanding pictorial expression of the early Ming. The detailed decorations of scrolls, plantain leaves and lotus petals are also features of this period.
