Explanation | Nikki S. Lee was born in Korea and currently based in the US. She appears in all of these "snapshot" like photographs which actually document a series of project she initiated with the aim to assimilate into various different communities of class, life-style, and ethnicity in American society. Through this project, she attempts to demonstrate that identities can in fact be chosen and altered by every individual. Her work requires a strenuous process in which the members of the particular group has reached a consensus that she has now become now one of "them." |
