Concept | 普遍のように思われていた社会通念が崩れ、二項対立で語ることができない多様性が問われる時世。加えて、コロナ禍において人との接触の機会が減少する中、信頼を置ける人との関係性や人を思いやる気持ちが自分自身の心のバランスを保つ役割を果たし、社会全体を支えているように感じます。 この作品は、近代化が進み貧富の差が広がる19 世紀中頃のフランスを舞台に描かれた、オノレ・ドーミエの「洗濯女」をモチーフにしています。苦しい社会情勢の中でも、母が我が子に手を差しのべて共に階段を上る姿は、現代の私たちの暮らしに重なります。時代を経てもなお変わらない人々の想いを、モニュメントとして残る形で制作しました。 Our world is experiencing dissolution of hitherto prevailing social norms, as we are asked to accept diversities not explicable with binary opposition. In addition, reduced opportunities to interact with other people in the world of pandemic are giving more weight to the relationship with people we trust and thoughtfulness towards others, which function to stabilize our mental balance and support the society as a whole. This work uses the Laundness, a painting by Honoré Daumier, as the motif. The painting depicts a scene in France in the mid-19th Century, where rich-poor disparity was aggravated by modernization. The way mother holds her child’s hand and climbs steps together as she struggles in the harsh social reality overlaps with our everyday life. The monument crystallizes people’s feeling, remaining unchanged beyond time. |
