Known for the “Girl in Red Shoes” in Yamashita Park, Yokohama, the sculptor is particularly skilled in bringing out internal aspects in flowing abundance when depicting guileless little girls. In this work, the girl sits on a stone seat with her hands clasped on her knees, while the seat is placed on a red granite pedestal. In the front yard of the Ube City Library, the figure of a girl, slightly hanging her head with her little heart filled with sorrows, perfectly matches the background. When the tree planted next to the statue grows tall, the scene depicted in the title completes.
