Works by Nagahiro never fail to astonish us with almost too perfect curves made on metal plates. In fact, the metal plates are made of enormous, ready-made steel pipes used for natural gas pipelines, etc. The artist skillfully cut them and welded them to create the large, organic-looking object. The humorous form, a little like a gigantic beetle walking on the ground, is titled “forest”. Did the sculptor mean it to look like one? Speaking of which, it may also look like the letter, “森 (forest)”, from a certain angle.
