In this sculpture, a stone comes out of the earth and extends with an angle towards the northern sky but suddenly makes a twist and returns to the earth. Many of the works by the artist belong to a series of monuments in the shape of a “gate”, and this piece is probably a variant. The artist’s mastery is fully exploited in how the stone retains its natural state, revealing lines and marks of chisel and hammer and impressing viewers as if the “shape” has always been there, sleeping in the earth and waiting to be chiseled out.
