| Concept | 田中米吉作品の面白さは互いに相異なる素材、相隔たった空間などを同じ次元に同居させることによって、日常感じとれなかったもう一つの空間に見る側を誘い出してくれることにある。この作品は鉄板と芝生の組み合わせでできていて、十二枚の鉄板を敷きつめた広がりの奥にピラミッド状の盛り上がりがある。よく見るとそのピラミッドの二面は鉄板で、他の二面は芝生で形造られている。つまり背景としての芝生の広がりと鉄板の広がりがこのピラミッドを基点に同居（ドッキング）していることになり、広大な庭空間を想起させてくれる。 In the works of Yonekichi Tanaka, the fun lies in the cohabitation of opposite materials and conflicting spaces in the same dimension, inviting viewers to an alternative space invisible in our daily life. The piece, consisting of iron plates and turf, features a peak in the shape of a pyramid at the further end of twelve iron plates paving the ground. A closer look reveals the two sides of the pyramid featuring iron plates, while the other two sides are made of turf. In other words, the “docking (cohabitation)” of the expanse of lawn in the background and the spread of the iron plates with the pyramid serving as the base point, suggests the vast expanse of an imaginary garden. |
