The 5th Contemporary Japanese Sculpture Exhibition, in which the piece was an entry, invited works under the theme of “shape and color”. However, because each material has their natural shade, most sculptors, who are experts in extracting materials’ inherent characteristics, have so far paid no meticulous attention to colors. Each entry therefore showed signs of elaboration, while only few works actually had painted surfaces. This piece, a transparent cube made of several dozens of square acrylic plates, creates a visual effect in which a floating orb is visible through the transparent cube. |
