| Concept | 遠くから見ると玉ねぎのお化けが緑の芝生に鎮座しているように見える。しかし、近づくにつれ正体不明の何物かがそれをしきりに持ち上げようとしているのに気付く。というのも表面は布地で包んだようにシワが寄り、布地の端をつまんだ中央部には鉄のフックと鎖が天へ向け垂直に立っているのである。だが鎖も途中からぷっつり切れていて、この力持ちの正体はわからない。天の力か、地の引力か？互いに拮抗状態にあるところが何とも不思議でかつ愉快である。作者はこの作品をきっかけにして眼には定かでないエネルギーの正体を造形化する試みを今も続けている。それにしてもこの壮大な造形力はこころにくいものがある。 From afar, it looks as if a giant monster onion sits neatly on the lawn. A closer look reveals unspecified something ceaselessly trying to somehow lift it up. The effort is visible, because the surface of the object is wrinkled as if wrapped in a cloth, and the raised tip in the center is attached with vertically standing iron hook and chain. However, because the chain is severed in the middle, there is no way to find out who the powerful person trying to lift the object is. Is it celestial power, or a gravity? The antagonistic effect of the pull and push is inexplicably mysterious but hilarious at the same time. Starting from this project, the sculptor has been in search of ways to give shape to the invisible source of energy. The grandeur of the artist’s formative skill is frustratingly impressive. |
